PORTABLE
WIRELESS VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SOLUTION |
| U.S.
Government International Facility Installation
A department of the
US Government requested a video monitoring system that
could be rapidly deployed, transportable, and highly
reliable. The substantial time and funding to trench,
lay conduit, and cable through roads, buildings, and
barriers was not an option for this department. They
needed a surveillance system in days, not months or
years.
Leveraging SecurWireless’
expertise in wireless surveillance solutions, the company
deployed the original Shadow™, an integrated portable
wireless video surveillance system, to meet the Agency’s
needs. |
DEPLOYMENT
CONFIGURATION
The
Shadow Command Station, a monitoring station, which
allows full control of the system from a familiar, easy-to-use
interface was also deployed as part of the system. In
a few clicks, users watch live video, control cameras,
and conduct searches. Cameras are programmed to move
in defined patterns, for complete coverage of critical
areas. User override enables camera pan, tilt, and zoom
to particular areas of interest. Video is automatically
recorded and archived for easy investigation. For complete
situation control, this solution also provides a built
in bidirectional intercom audio system. |
|
The
Command Station allows operators to
monitor, capture, and archive surveillance video footage
from Shadow camera units. The console is a Windows™
based, rugged laptop, fully customized for dedicated
use. For long-term recording and redundancy, it is easily
extensible and supports server backup.
|
This
deployment configuration was designed for ease of use,
maximal productivity, and ability to focus on performing
key tasks. Operator startup is a simple 3-step process:
power up, log in, begin monitoring. The monitoring station
is pre-configured to automatically detect and connect
to the wireless video nodes.

ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY |
|
Since the Shadow can be
deployed in a permanent, semi-permanent or portable configuration,
at this facility, operators moved the units around as frequently
as once a week in response to changing logistics or security
priorities.
As a base configuration, SecurWireless used its 4-camera
system, monitoring in MPEG-4 at CIF resolution. The system
easily supports up to 12 cameras and, with some customization,
can provide over 65 cameras.
